Coming from words of a florist, in business for about 30 years, seriously, take the advice.
The three ‘main’ competitors out there for online flower orders are 1800Flowers.com, Teleflora.com and FTD.com
Personally, I’d suggest you purchase flowers directly from your local florist, or a florist local to the location in which you will be wanting the flowers delivered. Trust me, when you order for florists directly, you’ll be about 1000000 Times more satisfied, no joke. They’ll be friendly, and surely treat your orders with a lot more care. Plus they usually give you more for your buck, and the best thing about it, you’ll know exactly who is sending your flowers.
But with the immense growth of technology and advanced communications through the net, people get lazy and do things online.
First suggestion, find LOCAL FLORIST websites.. Like not websites that just take your orders and ship them off to a REAL florist to deliver them. When you see a florist website, look at it’s about us section, find it’s address, make sure it’s a real florist, and not just someone in some building taking orders and ripping you off.
Next suggestion,
If you find it too much of a hassle to find a real florist, then you’re going to be turning to larger, headquartering florist websites, that would take your orders and distribute them to their network of florists.
In comparing the 3 “top” ones, I’d suggest you use Teleflora.com . They put a lot more effort into designing their bouquets and catering to the general public’s taste. Plus the BEST thing about them? They ONLY HAVE HAND DELIVERED HAND-ARRANGED BOUQUETS. What do I mean? I mean they’re never going to send you flowers in a box, with a vase in a different box, and you’ll have to arrange them yourself after you received them, which ends up dead in half a day. Sure it’s a couple bucks cheaper, but what the heck.
And here’s something you might want to know, because it’ll save you tons of money.
You picked out something, $39.99! What a deal! Then you proceed to checkout, then there comes delivery, which is normal because you’re wanting it delivered. Then there’s tax, which also makes sense, because unless you want the IRS after you, then you’ll be needing to pay taxes until the day you die. But then there are also these crazy charges of $15-$20. So what you originally thought was a deal, is now burning a hole in your pocket. And what’s worse is, the flowers you’re getting are still the ones priced at $39.99.
Ok, so here’s kinda the gist of it.
An actual florist or actual florist website :
What you pay :$39.99 + Delivery + Tax : $51.56
What you get : exactly what was priced, and probably a little more cuz the florists know that tax can be a killer sometimes, so they’ll make up for it with a little more flowers.
Just websites that distribute orders to real websites:
What you pay : $39.99 + Delivery +Random $15 Charge + Tax : $66.93
What you get : You paid almost $70, but when the florist gets the order to fill it for you and deliver it, they see $39.99 only, they don’t know that you paid almost $70. So you’ll get flowers worth $39.99. But actually probably less than that, because when orders are distribute to florist from these sites, when they actually get paid, it’s only 70% of the amount. So you paid $66.93 for flowers, but you’ll only end up getting flowers worth $27.99.
What’s wrong with this picture? You paid $67, but you end up getting less than half of what you paid.
Is that what you want?
Didn’t think so.
Think before you buy flowers online. CALL REAL FLORISTS FIRST! REALLY! Or Use Teleflora.com, they’re so much more reasonable with flowers, and they actually deal with flowers, unlike other websites that use sit-at-home operators that don’t know the least bit about flowers.
